Would Cars Imported from America be harder to resale in Canada?

Looking at importing a used car from The States to Canada due to the much much higher available options. This is a general question for all cars but incase you ask, Im looking at Jaguar F Type. Theres very few in the configuration Id like in Canada but dozens in the states. Anyways, if I decide to sell the vehicle in the future, do you think people would be more or less inclined to purchase it if its known as an import from The States? Would it hurt resale value?

Helped a friend move (wagon circle jerk)

Not the hottest post, but I had an interesting experience and thought some of y’all would enjoy this.

I had a friend in Brooklyn moving less than a mile away. He also had his parents CUV. It was a Honda CX-Runner or something. The experience highlighted the differences between a wagon and a mid sized CUV. My wagon was longer and able to better hold long objects, but unfortunately harder to park in the city. It was also easier to load up the roof rack. The CUV was able to fit taller objects like a table upside down rather than on its side.

People were loading things into my car without a lot of care and asked them to please be careful because this was a rare and special car. They both laughed because it doesn’t look like much. I told them it took me about a year to find one because saab only sold 356 of them in the states. I can’t tell if they thought I was crazy for caring about such a car 99% of people wouldn’t give a second look to or gave me some sort of cred with these brooklyn hipsters (nerds with weird clothes).

The big comparison I would have liked to do is drive both cars loaded up with stuff. I imagine the difference in center of gravity would be more pronounced than when empty.

We stopped by his parents house to pick up more stuff. His dad complemented my new car, even though it’s the same model as my last saab that he said nothing about. It was odd to me because his family owns three Japanese CUVs. He’s exactly the person abandoning station wagons to buy CUVs and he likes mine. Besides the wagon the only discernible difference to a non car person is updated lights (08 verse 05) and one inch larger wheels. It was covered in salt too.

I’m not anti CUV. I personally rather have a low center of gravity than a higher vantage point and an easier exit. All these CUV buyers don’t like wagons because they were “beige” 20-60 years ago and I don’t like CUVs because they’re “beige” now. To be honest there are a few I like, but for every single one there is a wagon I’d rather have, especially now that Porsche makes a station wagon.

Craigslist Find 88 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 $14,999

I admit to a soft spot in my heart for these J Bodies and I keep an eye out for the rare Unicorn. I want an 88-91 Z-24 with a manual. I have some Craigslist alerts setup for this and its twin the Sunbird.

Occasionally I see a cream puff and it will be around 5k, which is high, but to the right person….?

This dude is delusional though. 15k asking for an automatic. He is willing to pick you up at the airport or help with shipping!

What 17 year old buys a car and only drives it 20k miles?

I lowballed the value of my Craigslist car listing… is it a sin to change?

Hi guys. I listed my 1999 audi a6 wagon on CL for 1000$. It seemed like a fair price, Ive got one guy planning on taking a look tomorrow evening, but we still don’t have a time set up, and spoke with another saying he would be next in line if this guy falls through. After seeing all the interest I looked up the KBB value (which i should have done in the first place) and saw it being 1500-2000. I felt pretty dumb, because I’m super broke and need the extra cash.

Is it horrible to change the listing price to 1300? And just apologize to the two guys and tell them I had to increase the price?? aghhh

How much does it cost to replace a broken OBD2 port? Don’t know much about cars but I have a check engine light on and my port isn’t working with multiple readers.

It took a year of searching and buying sight unseen, but I finally have my white whale, a 1989 944 S2.

I haven’t taken it out for glamour shots yet, but wanted to post something. It’s like a time capsule. The interior looks almost brand new, there are no dash cracks, and minimal rock chips. I have a thick stack of service records/stamps from new as well. It’s such a fun little car especially with the sunroof removed.

Blasting The Human League, Naked Eyes, Kraftwerk, and other 80s tunes has never felt so right.

[Update] On trying to lower a car by $3,000 in price.

Although some of you were down voting me for whatever reason I went to the dealership and got a car.

The original asking price was $455 with a $1,500 down payment. After talking them down, I walked away with a $318 car payment with $260 down. I feel like I did good, the cars agreed upon price was $36,700. MSRP $42,000. For a 2018 car.

Did I do good? I still feel like I could have pushed more but the guy wasn’t giving up, not even a dollar extra, I was there negotiating for 5 hours… I’ve never tried to buy something for such a long time.

In the show “Everything Sucks”, they used the wrong bus [spoilers]

In the first season of the Netflix show “Everything Sucks”, a show about coming of age in the mid 90s, they get on a bus to travel to Dominguez Rocks, but that bus is an early 2000s Chevrolet Express conversion….that didn’t come out till 2003. In fact, they use an updated one (an 07 or 08 model possibly) based on the steering wheel. Watch it. True car geeks will know what I mean.

Is the Lamborghini Huracan the ultimate supercar?

It has good performance (and good aftermarket support), great looks, a insane exhaust note, it’s Italian with German engineering, and it’s daily able! Does anyone agree with me? I’m lucky enough to have rode in one and can say it’s a very engaging car to be in, and can see why so many youtubers/celebrities and car enthusiasts own it.

Can you add memory function to power seats?

Hi all. My wife and I just purchased a VW Atlas as we have twins on the way and needed some more room. We bought the SE w/ Tech trim which includes driver’s side 10-way power seats. However, that trim level does not include a memory function for the seats, which is infuriating.

Is there a way to add a memory function aftermarket?

Had an… exciting time at today’s Blackhawk “Ferrari and Alfa Romeo” Cars and Coffee in California

Some photos: https://imgur.com/a/CSURB

Hopefully they’re in correct order now.. Imgur kind of sucks at upload order.

Needless to say, the three most popular cars at the meet were the F40, Chiron, and P1 GTR.

Sorry for the repetitive pictures, but with the people everywhere I did the best I could to capture the cars with decent angles.

How bad are summer tires on ice? 2015 mustang GT.

Not super slicks or radials or anything like that. But decent summer tires. 1 year old, pretty new still (8000kms). The roads have no snow/ice, but my alley is partially ice. Will I flat out get stuck if I get onto ice? No incline/decline.
