Under what conditions would you consider buying a used car with a “rebuilt” title

I see quite a few on Craigslist with rebuilt titles. Some S2000s with seats that were stolen through a cut top. I’d buy that. Others that have been in wrecks of all sorts. One that was totalled by throwing a rod. “I need to change fluids?”

Where would you draw the line? What impact should the title alone have on price?

2005 VW Golf GTI 1.8t- EPC and check engine light just came on

Hi all, I’m having a pretty rough day. Gotta pay my college tuition for this semester and then suddenly on my way home from work my car (description in title) decided to have another problem. As I was driving on the highway, the EPC and check engine light came on near simultaneously, and the car could still drive but it had next to no acceleration at all. I could literally put the gas pedal all the way down and it wouldn’t really accelerate at all. Any ideas what the problem could be?

Make a claim?

Long story short- wife got in a fender bender that did damage to other party. They are submitting a claim to our insurance for their damage. We have 1100 worth of damage too. Wife doesn’t want insurance to pay since she thinks it’ll make our premiums go up. I’m thinking they’re going up anyway due to other party’s claim so we might as well let insurance pay. Thoughts? Thanks!

What’s the closest near miss (you thought you were gonna die) you’ve ever had while driving?

Took a rising corner too fast?

Totally underestimated the sharpness of a curve?

Thought your brakes were better than they were?

Realized the exciting drift you were feeling was actually your car getting ready to depart the road?

Found yourself thanking your deity of choice for surviving your latest attempt to keep the Styx Boat Service in business?

Realized maybe the guy in the Q7 has you outgunned slaloming and you should probably let him have this one before you kill yourself?

Had your significant other cursing at you for advancing funeral plans by several decades?

Share your war stories! Let’s hear ’em!

EDIT: Preferably the story should be your fault. “Some a-hole cut me off” is not a fun story haha.

Man dies after Tesla crashes into San Francisco area pond

I’m very familiar with this road and the area where this car crashed.

It’s a two lane backroad with multiple unpaved/unmarked driveways. That pond is set back from the road and surrounded in very thick brush/trees. You can drive by it hundreds of times and never know the pond was there.

To get pass those trees and into the pond you would have to be going very quickly and veer hard off the road.
