r/cars, what do you think about electric cars?

Personally, their performance is incredible. And the benefits to the environment would be huge if everyone used them (and could afford them).

The one thing I hate (dislike), as a car enthusiast, is the sound. There is nothing like driving and hearing the rumble of the engine. It gives the car so much emotion, something a Tesla could never do.

Sure, the new roadster can do 0-60mph in 1.9 seconds, but I doubt it will have the same emotion and personality as a combustion engine vehicle.

I think electric vehicles are the future. There is very little to stop them from taking over. They will likely become more common in the next decade, but what do you guys think? What do you think about the future of Electric cars? What about the car enthusiast?
