I moved to Minnesota a few years ago and I still haven’t adjusted to the cold weather, also I can still count with one hand how many years I’ve been driving. When it gets really snowy here, I started experimenting on ways to slow down without having to step on the brakes, I realized that if I switch into sport mode and downshift to 2nd gear the car becomes easier to control and stop vs using the brakes. Since I’ve been doing this going down hills isn’t terrifying anymore but I’m actually trying to figure out if this is actually safe or not, no one I know has actually attempted this.
Is it safe to continue doing this, and am I promoting any dangerous action whether on the cars transmission? When I do this, vs, driving in auto mode I notice ABS / traction control slide never happens.
Thanks in advance guys,
