Hi, i have power steering fluid leaking out of damaged rubber part of front right wheel Steering Rack Pinion boot/bellow. The part is only $11 for my Legacy outback 1999 which is great, but when i called a few auto shops they insisted the part alone cant be replaced, you have to replace the whole steering rack pinion assembly and they would charge over $300 for just labor, one place even said labor and part would be $900 lol. Is it really not possible just to change one rack rubber boot? are they bamboozling me for a bigger job? or is it only possible to change the whole thing?
