Newer cars have lost significant driver visibility

I have always driven 15-20 year old cars. I had to rent a car today and had the pleasure of driving a new car for the first time in my life. While the tech and drive were amazing, I was absolutely shocked by how reduced my visibility is compared to older cars. Rear windows are deeply angled and very narrow, a b and c pillars are wide and obstruct major sections of the road. Crazy curves on the front hood eliminate useful sight lines. I get that these are needed to improve safety, and I get that complimentary safety features like blind spot warning can mitigate some of this, but over all, I felt just a bit terrified and not in control driving a new car compared to my 2001 civic.
